2020 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships Cancellation Update
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through these extraordinary times. After the 2020 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships were canceled Friday, March 13, U.S. Figure Skating and the LOC in Newark have been working together to formalize the athlete entry fee and practice ice fees refunds. As such we will be emailing all athletes the week of March 23-27 with information on refund timeline.
Thank you for your understanding,
U.S. Figure Skating

U.S. Figure Skating, in coordination with the local organizing committee (University of Delaware FSC) for the 2020 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships, was informed Thursday of the decision by the State of Delaware to declare a State of Emergency and within that, implement a ban on all public gatherings of 100 persons or more effective at 8 a.m. EST today, March 13. In addition we were also informed by the University of Delaware that all facilities including the Ice Arena on the campus would be closed as of 5 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 12. These actions eliminate the possibility of the organizing committee to host the U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships and as such the event to be held April 14-18 is now canceled.
“We understand and support the actions taken by both the University and the State of Delaware. We also feel for the hundreds of competitors that looked forward to competing in Newark. We of course are disappointed that we are unable to conduct these championships and send our best wishes to all,” said Charles Robel, Competition Co-Chair of the 2020 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships.
Adult competitors will be contacted in the coming days directly regarding the entry fee and practice ice refund process. We encourage all to communicate directly with airlines and hotels for individual cancellation policies.
